Investigations

 

The Criminal Investigative Division of The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office is made up of 7 investigators, each possessing extensive specialized training as well as overall investigative knowledge.

*Sgt. Chris Whittemore has been with the MCSO since Jul. 2002. He oversees all investigative operations. He is also an alumni of The Forensic Science Academy as well as  a certified arson  investigator in the state of Virginia.

*Sgt. Dennis Wilson has been with the MCSO since Apr. 1982. In addition to his investigative training, he is also a certified arson investigator in the state of Virginia.

*Sgt. Daniel (Rusty) Callahan has been with the MCSO since Dec. 1987, has also had added extensive training in identity theft and crime scene photography.

*Sgt. Mark Claiborne. has been with the MCSO since Oct. 1992, and has added several specialized courses, such as crime scene photography to his training .

*Inv. Jason Seamans has been with the MCSO since Mar. 2005, is our Domestic Violence Investigator  as well as a certified arson investigator in the state of Virginia.

The CID investigates all general cases as well as specialized incidents.


 

With the acquirement of the Crime Scene Van, the division is able to provide quick response to a crime scene and the timely containment of evidence. The crime scene van is equipped with updated investigative tools to assist in the recovery of valuable evidence from all potential crime scenes.
